Student’s Joy at Exam Results
09/09/2009

August saw Newmarket College ‘A' Level students celebrating excellent results. Pass rates of 62% in the higher grades A to C were achieved with two students in particular achieving three A Grades and several others received two As in their chosen subjects. All in all, the results meant that most of our students were able to secure their places in their first choice University. We wish all our Sixth Form students the very best in the future and hope they will come back to let us know how they get on.

Dr Bob Cadwalladr says…
“I am very pleased with the overall AS and A Levels results this year. There were, too, some fantastic stories of individual achievements which reflect all the hard work and effort put in over the last two years by the students, their parents and teachers. My congratulations go to all the students who collected their results this summer.”

GCSE students also achieved fantastic results in this year's exams; 50% of students achieved 5 or more of the higher grades A* to C and 43% including English and Maths. Two of our top performers achieved a fantastic 6A*s and others achieved admirable 3 As. Many of our Year 11 students have been able to go on to the next stage of their learning, whether that be academically or in the more practical, vocational courses with tremendous grounding and confidence.

Dr Bob Cadwalladr says...
“I am really proud of the achievements and improvements this year's students have made and am looking forward to welcoming back the many who will be joining our expanding Sixth Form this coming College year. Of course we are celebrating the success of these young people but the results are important to the College as a whole as a solid foundation for even better results in the future.”

Two of our top performing students, Magda Lawrynowicz (year 11) and Alexander Weissburd (Year 12), achieved outstanding results in their chosen subjects; both only came to this country last September, from Poland and Germany respectively; and as Alexander was originally from Russia, English is his third language!

Well done to everyone!!
